Wanting to preserve a centuries-old olive tree, the building is organized into two staggered bodies; towards the street, the living zone, opening onto a pergola terrace, and the sleeping zone in the innermost part of the garden. The architect designed it in 1957 at the request of his friend Romano Rui (1915-1977), a well-known Milanese artist and teacher at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Gian Casè (1918-1990), born in Milan, a pupil of Ernesto Nathan Rogers at the University of Lausanne, first collaborated with the BBPR studio in Milan during the Torre Velasca years and then with Giulio Minoletti on the Milan architectural scene. As an independent architect he worked in the field of civil architecture and achieved particular notoriety in the design sector.
